'Fingers must just get in the way': Incredible jewellery designed and crafted by woman who was born without digits on her hands

A talented jeweller whose creations sell for thousands of pounds has told how she manages to create her intricate ornaments despite having no fingers.
Annette Gabbedey, 48, creates delicate rings, earrings and bracelets, inset with with diamonds, opals and other precious stones in her workshop in Frome, Somerset.
But the expert goldsmith, who was born without fingers, uses no special tools to help her work and says she cannot imagine how people with fingers manage to do it.

Mrs Gabbedey, who says she was always encouraged by her family to 'get out there and sort it out', studied jewellery-making at school and college before training amongst the jewellery experts of London's Hatton Garden.
She moved to Somerset 24 years ago, and now has a reputation as one of Britain's finest craftsmen and opal specialists.
She said: 'It is just your own perception of how you look at yourself, and for me I was born like it, so I have never known anything different.............continue reading and see more photos....

I STARTED LAUNDRY BUSINESS WITH BUCKET AND WASH

Having read this, i had hope that many other Nigerians living in abject poverty can still survive one way or the other......

Dry cleaning and laundry business sprang up to offer services to those who might be too busy to take care of their clothings or to relieve them of the stress involved in washing thereby paying for the service rendered by those who have found it a lucrative venture.
The business is a viable income and job generating venture which generates returns of over 100 percent on investment and involves little capital to start.
It is in light of this that some people have ventured into the business to render services to people. The business is a thriving one especially in the urban centres where most people do not have much time to do their washing by themselves.
Laundry and dry cleaning service is simply washing of clothing materials, ironing and proper packaging for people who need the services.
Mrs. Rose Kalu Awa, who operates a dry cleaning and laundry outfit in EFAB Estate, Abuja, said she has been in the business for the past five years and there is no looking back for her.
Her outfit, Sommy Wash Laundry and Dry Cleaning Services, though started with N13, 000 in 2008 now has a workshop in EFAB and a collection center in Utako. She said that she started with a small capital with which she bought a bucket, one pressing iron, detergent, starch, tablet soap and somebody gave her a table to use...continue reading!

Planning ahead for the New Year

Hip hip hurray, it’s the New Year. Three hundred and sixty-five days, five hundred and twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes and thirty-one million, five hundred and thirty-six thousand seconds gone by just like that. It is a time to start afresh and set new goals especially financial goals. At this particular time of the year many people begin to make New Year’s resolutions, however many of these resolutions are just wishes that never become reality. Worse still many of these do not relate to personal or business finance issues. It is not enough to just say I would get out of debt in 2014 or I would give more to charity. How do you intend to make this a reality?  It is therefore not enough to just make resolutions instead it is more profitable to set goals. You may ask, what is the difference between a resolution and a goal? According to the Oxford Dictionary, resolution can be defined as “a firm decision to do or not to do something”, whilst according to the Business Dictionary “a goal is an observable and measurable end result having one or more objectives to be achieved within a more or less fixed time frame”. Essentially a goal must be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic/Relevant and Time bound). As 2014 commences, it is a time to Reflect, Refocus and Review...... continue reading

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME : Birthday Prayer!

Hello y'all join Ur prayers with mine and thank Baba God for making me see another day like this... I've always been thankful to Him... i remember when i was growing up, AT SOME POINT,  i usually celebrated my birthday on the 22nd of November instead of 21st of November, or sometimes i celebrated it on the actual day 21st, i was confused about my birthday, this happuned especially when i was in school or alone with my dad(GOd rest his soul)...... my dad didnt even remember whether it was 21st or 22nd.... this continued untill i did my First Holy Communion, my sponsor (aunt Bridget) told me that it was on the 21st not 22nd. i smiled sheepishly and shook my head.....so since that day it got stuck in my head that it was 21st.

If i start to write about the many stories ive encountered on my past birthdays, you will laugh......but anyways no time at all for that.....Another Birthday is here, so i will Thank God and ask Him for His abundant blessings, why dont you join me? ;

Thank you, God, for giving me another year of life.
Thank you for all the people who remembered me today
by sending cards, and letters, gifts and good wishes.

Thank you for all the experience of this past year;
for times of success which will always be happy memories,
for times of failure which reminded me of my own weakness and of my need for you,
for times of joy when the sun was shining,
for times of sadness which drove me to you.

Forgive me
for the hours I wasted,
for the chances I failed to take,
for the opportunities I missed this past year.
Help me in the days ahead to make this the best year yet,
and through it to bring good credit to myself,
happiness and pride to my loved ones,
and joy to you. Amen.

Did i hear somebody say amen? oh ok

My boyfriend and I have been together since 2007 and living in my house for most of that time. There is no doubt in my mind that he loves me and I do love him. Shhh! World’s most stunning libraries captured in new book that will leave you lost for words.

The 320-page tome features libraries of all sizes from the world's largest - the Library Of Congress in Washington - to the tiny late medieval library of Trinity Hall in Cambridge.
The oldest library featured in the £48 book which has survived with its fitting intact is the Malatestiana Biblioteca in Cesena in Italy, which dates back to 1452.

'Libraries have been held in such high esteem for hundreds of years and have often had a huge amount of money spent on them for different reasons.
'For some it was a case of personal pride while for others their library was a symbol of cultural importance.
'Some libraries are a place to store books while some are sheer works of art.
'Libraries are like living rooms in cities - warm places that anyone can go to to work and to learn - they are very egalitarian.
'In contrast, the internet, the main threat to public libraries, is quite undemocratic because to access it you need a computer and a connection.
'A lot of people think books are on their way out but interestingly there are more books being printed now than ever before.
'Public libraries might be being closed in Europe but in other parts of the world like China they are being built.
'In fact, one of the first things any country wanting to establish itself does is build a national library.
'My hope is that this book will becomes the one people will reach for for information on the history of libraries for many years to come.'
The Library is published by Thames and Hudson and costs £48.

How to Make your Relationship Long-lasting

Hello peeps here is a lil tip;

Don’t you ever wonder why some people stick together when they know damn well it ain’t gonna work? If one person wants something completely different, then the relationship can’t really function.  Relationships and marriages that has gone down the hill or have broken up because of miscommunication  or a big rush on settlement.  I would hate for a man that I’m dating to change his mind or to end it over a petty argument.......... continue reading....

He Is Not Going To Marry You

I was led by the Spirit and just thought i should address some of y'all;

Both of you started a Relationship 3 years ago, and he proposed to you. When the rent of your apartment expired, he asked you to move into his own instead of renewing your rent since both of you have agreed to get married.

You have been living with him since then, going to Church, Praising the Lord and all.

Now you call EGES calling God, God, God, giving me the impression that you love God enough to live for Him. And then you tell me the reason why you called is to know how to deal with your Fiance that has been very unfaithful to you, and I ask myself what is there to be faithful to you about? You have been so unfaithful yourself living with a man you are not married to, he has been having sex with you, while the next minute he watches you go to the corner of the room to speak in tongues. He has seen how unfaithful you are to God, and knows if you can't be faithful to God, you can NEVER be faithful to him. He hasn't carried CHURCH on his head like you have, and probably doesn't see any reason why he should, since those around him who do so have not found anything so CAPTIVATING about God to give their all to Him.

HE IS NOT GOING TO MARRY YOU. There is nothing trustworthy about you. He is probably looking for EVERY WAY to throw you out now. I hope it won't come as a surprise to you when he does!

For most of you Ladies in Abuja who carry Church on your head, yet do UNSPEAKABLE and SHOCKING things in the dark, I speak GRACE, GRACE to you. May the GRACE of God seek and sort you out. Did i hear u say Amen??

Investment bank intern, 21, on £45,000 worked 'until 6am for three nights in a row' before he was found dead in his London flat

A young student has died in mysterious circumstances while employed as an intern at a top investment bank – amid claims he was asked to work punishingly long hours.

The body of Moritz Erhardt was discovered on Thursday evening as he neared the end of a seven-week internship with the Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s investment bank division.

The 21-year-old – understood to be from Germany – had joined  Merrill Lynch earlier in the summer hoping to forge a career with the firm.

Paid interns at the bank normally earn £45,000 a year pro rata - around £2,700 a month.

Yesterday it was claimed Mr Erhardt may have suffered a fit or seizure. However internet forum users said he may have been working ‘all-nighters’ during his stay with the company.

Many banks are known to encourage their young students to work late into the night and in the past there have been claims those keen to impress have put in long hours with very little sleep.

On one site, called wallstreetoasis.com, many posters insisted Mr Erhardt regularly worked long hours and added: ‘One of the best interns at BAML – three all-nighters, didn’t turn up, colleagues went to find him.’

Mr Erhardt had been living in the Claredale House student accommodation flats in Bethnal Green, East London. The apartments are rented out to hundreds of interns during the summer months.

Another poster on the wallstreetoasis.com site added: ‘It is absolutely true – he was found dead in the shower by his flatmate. Intern at BAML who went home at 6am three days in a row.’

Do I Need To Sleep With This Man To Get My Husband A Job"? - Confused Person

Kindly help publish this so that comments from your blog readers like me will help give me a direction and possibly soothe my conscience.

We got married 2 years ago and everything was going really smooth as planned until he lost his job. I wasn't working at that time so I decided to get a job to sustain us and our 1 year old twin girls. he tried all he could to get a job to no avail.

I met with one of my boss' friends who owned an oil company and told him about my husband and he agreed to help. As we went back and forth in this regard, he told me he had to have his way with me in order to assist me! I was so furious, I walked away in disgust! What was this world turning into - so you can't help the opposite sex without expecting "something" back?

He still comes to see my boss from time to time and told me on one of those occasions that the offer was still open and the deal could be sealed as soon as I consented.

This is where I need urgent help! The job I have is not enough to sustain us month-on-month. Should I give in to pave way for my husband to get the job or just wait in agony as he continues his job hunt?

Please advise me.

Beyonce is Not Pregnant

Jay-Z has something to say about those pesky pregnancy rumors going around.

Reports surfaced on Friday that Beyonce is expecting her second child, and now New York radio station Hot 97′s Program Director Ebro has Jay-Z’s side of the story. Ebro revealed that he sent a congratulatory e-mail to the rapper over the weekend, and Jay-Z’s response to him was that the pregnancy rumors are indeed false. Watch the video below to hear Ebro’s statement.

Meanwhile, Beyonce took to the stage in Milan on Saturday without mentioning the pregnancy rumblings. In fact, the 31-year-old performer flaunted her famous figure in a skintight jumpsuit (and some other revealing outfits) and danced the night away.
